Coming up on January 22, 2010, Joyce Scott will open her show at the Mitchell Gallery of St. John’s College in Annapolis. When Joyce was honored with this show, she generously asked if her five fellow artists and friends of 25+ years could show with her in the back gallery. I am one of these five, along with Linda De Palma, Oletha De Vane, Ellen Burchenal, and Dr. Leslie King-Hammond. The theme of the show is Homer’s Odyssey, ‘a loosely fitted directive for this exhibit’. I will be showing the following works on paper:

At Your Peril, 15 x 22, ink collage on paper

Odysseus Dreams of a Way Home, 15 x 22, oil on paper

The Wind is God, 15 x 22, ink on paper
In combination with this exhibition, Dr. Hammond secured a printmaking opportunity at Lafayette College’s Experimental Printing Institute in Easton, Pennsylvania. Under the direction of Master Printer Professor Holton, each of us submitted a piece of artwork that is to be made into a seragraph, which will also be on exhibit at the Mitchell Gallery for the show.
This past Friday my show in Provincetown opened. The work looks great! Here is a preview.

Vidi In Sogno

The Intervention By Swan
These past few weeks have been full of dreams which have wanted to be paintings. Vidi in Sogno (Seen in a Dream) was a dream in which my father, dressed in green and gold, was carrying to me a large bright green feather. The painting, The Intervention by Swan, followed a disturbing dream. While painting, a large blue angel is about to lance what appears as a dark force when a swan appears around his neck and intervenes.
My work is being represented by a new gallery, Gallery Eh-va, opening in Provincetown, MA, this Saturday, May 23rd. Gallery Eh-va is at 74 Shankpainter Road. It is a large contemporary space with great walls for artwork, and ample parking.
I will have 19 pieces in the gallery, and will have my work featured at my opening on July 31st. My show will be up for two weeks. But my work will be on view in the gallery’s second room, for gallery artists, the entire summer and into the winter.
